Subject: RE: HELP
I agree that the site seems to be almost deliberately vague about how to run this software. So far, here's what I've found out:
1. It looks like the files with .IPF extensions are the program files. IPF stands for Interchangeable Preservation Format, which means you need some kind of software that can interpret and run .IPF.
2. This software originally ran on Commodore Amiga computers, so you need the WinUAE software, which is an Amiga emulator for Windows. I'm a fairly proficient PC user, but installing WinUAE looks fairly daunting (http://winuaehelp.back2roots.org/)
3. It appears to me that you can't run this software without something called "Amiga Kickstart ROM". In order to get this you need to buy a piece of software called Amiga Forever by Cloanto. The Online Edition of this software is $29.95. It looks like if you buy Amiga Forever you will be able to skip step 2.
4. So, equipped with some kind of Amiga emulator software and the .IPF files listed, you might be able to run LL3.

I'm researching the whole issue of digital preservation and copyright, so this is a very interesting exercise for me. I intend to pursue this further and will let you know what I find out.

How the hell does this stuff work? I used to love Leisure Suit Larry games, but I can't figure out how you are supposed to run this stuff. Someone please post a comment saying what to do. Thanks!

Subject: My favorite Larry Game
As someone who has played larry 1-7 (I didn't touch 8 since Al Lowe didn't make it... and as many know larry 4 doesn't exist).

This one aimed to be a little more risque than larry 2. What is innovative is it has "levels. Meaning you can play in mother goose mode (friendliest) all the way to raunchy (in which more scenes might be a little more revealing).

Anyway, an excellent games, with beautiful graphics and sound (for the EGA era ;) )

Also, a small correction for the reviewer above, there is no such thing as Sierra Game Creator (SGC), the game was made with SCI (Sierra's Creative Interpreter), their older games were written in AGI (Adventure Game Interpreter).

I'm just mentioning this since with an SCI interpreter you can play this game on modern hardware (without even bothering with an amiga emulator). Happy searching!

Subject: Not as great but still good!
Leisure Suit Larry 3 (LSL3) kept in the style of the Sierra Games Creator (SGC) format, but now with no typing, just pointing and clicking. It follows on from Leisure Suit Larry 2 game where Larry wakes up from his doped Utopia and discovers that he has been dumped by his wife and must undertake the role of a swinger singleton again.

The usual camp comedy and quirky puzzles throws the player back into the driving seat of his old pal Larry. Halfway through it stops and puts the player in control of Patti, a sexy nubile singer who must save Larry and the day.

With expectations as high as they were from the success of LSL2 LSL3 does a great job at trying to meet them. It is a wonderful game full of eye rolling moments that will have you tittering frequently. It is not has funny or as hard as LSL2 but it will make you feel happy that Larrys 2nd love dumped him in it again. All in all a great game which continues to promote the sanctions of being a loser by being a winner.
